Old Snowmass Retreat

Tucked into the upper end of the Snowmass Creek Valley, this retreat is built for large family gatherings. Providing a setting for multi generational get-togethers, and a myriad of different outdoor spaces for a variety of ages and experiences was a main goal for this project. Sustainability and environmentally responsible design was also at the forefront of the programming. Solar panels and photovoltaic cells line the roof, a self sustaining greenhouse is included on site for local food production, as well as a hay field and barn for animal husbandry. Green principals reign both inside and outside of the house in it’s materiality, found objects and native plantings. The project was completed in partnership with Rowland Broughton.
